.....do them yourself? Remember to disconnect the ABS module unless you want to loose a finger :] I'll bring the pizza and a can of brake cleaner, lets get to work!

3 hours Brian. For brake pads.

That makes negative sense.

all the tools I need to do then (besides the jack) can fit in my pocket. Buy the pads, go on youtube and find a DIY video, gain Jalop points :]

Stopping is overrated. Besides, your insurance deductible is probably cheaper than what they charged you.

it's just brakes... not not a linear valve offset job on the ABS accumulator (Lexus)

I've probably changed 500 sets of pads in my life. Just don't know what's gonna be different about this big AMG brakes, that's all.

Book time does not, in any way, resemble time it actually takes to do something.

just pads?
![]() 12/09/2014 at 15:17 |

drum brakes are still way harder to change than those. This is just a case of shop pricing, not actual hours taken.

Nothin special just brakes.

Mostly a joke, but still, drum brakes aren't that hard to change. They take like 15 minutes, or .25 hours per axle, provided they've been tended to sometime in the last few years.

Yeah.

I had a MB dealership tell me CV axle boots for my W123 would be $60 each for the inner boots and $90 each for the outer ones. Plus I would need to buy the special tool required for them to do it for me. I bought all 4 on my own for $60.

Did they have to do anything other than swap pads?

haha, tended to in the last few years is usually the part that screws me over. Every time I work on drums it seems like they have never been touched.
